"Mirantis” - a title sponsor for Champions of Russia 2009 at the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest
SARATOV, Russia – April 2, 2009 – Mirantis, Inc. (www.mirantis.com) signs on as a title sponsor for Champions of Russia 2009 at the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest. The finals will take place in Stockholm (Sweden) on 18 – 22 of April, where one hundred of the most successful teams will compete for the prestigious title of World champions. The Saratov State University (SSU) team exhibited the best results in semi-finals in the contest and became the Champions of Russia. Mirantis is very interested in the achievements of the Saratov students and the quality of education at SSU; and provides active technical and financial support to the Saratov University programming movement.
The ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) is a Collegiate World Championship that during the 32 years of its history became a magnet for the growing-up intellectual elite attracted to the rapidly spreading world of Information Technologies. Teams from more than 1800 colleges from all over the world compete annually to become World Champions. Professionalism and competence of the Championship are highly valued by the leading high-tech, IT and telecommunication companies.
Saratov State University drew professional attention world-wide in 2002, when the students of SSU became the Champions of Europe. The event became the starting point in a row of achievements made by the combined team of students and coaches that were engaged in the preparation for the championship. Every year the University of Saratov participates in the contest showing significant results, such as achieving the status of World and European champions and other prestigious awards. This year the team from Saratov received best result in the semi-finals and became the Champions of Russia 2009.
Mirantis provides intensive technical and financial support in the preparation of the SSU team for the finals. Strategic partnership of the University of Saratov and Mirantis started in 2006, when the company became a title sponsor of the Saratov students at the ACM ICPC event for the first time. As a result the SSU team performed at the finals and became World and European champions. Students, who once took part in the International Collegiate Programming Contest, now work in Mirantis and contribute to the development of the company.
