Will share OpenStack expertise at CloudCamp’s Cloud Hack Day in California

Mountain View, CA (PRWEB) November 01, 2011 —

Mirantis, an engineering services company focused on open source application infrastructure, will present a workshop on How to Install OpenStack at the CloudCamp OpenCloudWeekend, November 5-6 in Sunnyvale, CA.

The event is part of CloudCamp’s ongoing series of events, where adopters of cloud technologies exchange ideas. Attendees can register at http://opencloudweekend.eventbrite.com/.

The workshop, a two-hour crash course on OpenStack installation, will take participants step-by-step through the OpenStack install process using some of the open source install scripts. At the end, participants will be able to launch a basic application on top of OpenStack.

We are glad to see Mirantis help fill the need for OpenStack expertise and help expand the OpenStack ecosystem, making it easier for those looking to work with OpenStack take advantage of the platform.

Throughout the session, participants will also look under the hood of the install script to understand the actual install process. The goal is to get workshop participants to go beyond simply running an install script, and walk away with an understanding of general architecture of OpenStack compute and key modules that comprise it. The workshop will also include a high level overview of the Nova architecture.

Mike Scherbakov, an experienced OpenStack architect at Mirantis, will host the session. Scherbakov will share his experience with multiple large-scale OpenStack deployments at the event. A crew of stackers from the Mirantis team will assist with a hands-on portion of the program.

California-based Mirantis has been an active member of the OpenStack community since its inception and has contributed multiple code commits to the OpenStack Compute and Identity projects. Mirantis is also one of the key organizers of the Bay Area’s OpenStack user group, hosting the quarterly community events in the Silicon Valley.

“OpenStack is a very popular choice for enterprises today and is quickly becoming a de facto standard platform for building private and public clouds,” noted Boris Renski, EVP and co-founder at Mirantis.

“We are glad to see Mirantis help fill the need for OpenStack expertise and help expand the OpenStack ecosystem, making it easier for those looking to work with OpenStack take advantage of the platform,” said Mark Collier, VP of Rackspace Cloud Builders.

“Companies are actively seeking OpenStack knowledge. Because Mirantis provides this expertise to its customers, we are happy to share this information with the OpenStack community by participating in this CloudCamp forum,” added Renski.
