It’s a wrap: Devoxx France 10th anniversary developer conference
This month, Mirantis was proud to sponsor Devoxx France, which was really an incredible event! Hats off to Devoxx for pulling off such an awesome experience for the developer community. For those of you who don’t know, Devoxx France is one of the largest developer conferences in Europe, and this year’s event marked its 10th anniversary, with almost 3,000 people attending each day.
Everyone we talked to was genuinely happy to return to the world of in-person events like we used to do, and we could all see and feel a high level of energy throughout — from presentations to meet-and-greet parties, and even impromptu conversations during breaks. It was refreshing to see so much exuberance at the show as attendees and exhibitors alike really tried to make the most of the shared experience after waiting two long years due to the pandemic.
As an official sponsor of the conference, Mirantis focused our activities around Lens, an open source platform led by Mirantis that makes it easy to navigate Kubernetes clusters, monitor them in real time, and quickly troubleshoot problems when they occur. We presented a talk, Eliminez la complexité de Kubernetes avec LENS! that was well received and attracted a full capacity audience of 150+ attendees. As our team members toured the exhibit hall, we were pleasantly surprised to find Lens incorporated into so many demos at various stands, including GitLab and Astrachain. We estimate that 70% of the technologists running demos in the exhibit stands were using Lens for real-time monitoring, troubleshooting, and debugging their clusters!
Many prospects and clients proactively came to our stand, as well as other vendors wanting to learn more about Lens and how to integrate with their technologies. The majority of attendees we met came from the financial services, telecommunications, or manufacturing sectors. Several members of the Lens community also came to our stand, who were already using the platform for their day-to-day development and operations.
A lot of developers we talked to really wanted to understand alternative ways of administering Kubernetes, as they were interested in exploring beyond the traditional, incumbent vendors. Another trend that we noticed in conversations with developers was a huge interest in data — in topics like data security and compliance, data sovereignty, data availability, and data capacity. Additionally, we estimate that roughly 30-40% of the stands in the exhibit hall were data-oriented.

Besides Lens, we also had many discussions about the hybrid cloud capabilities of Mirantis Container Cloud and container orchestration with Mirantis Kubernetes Engine. Additionally, we saw some interest in Swarm, which Mirantis will continue to develop and support.
Joining us in our stand were IT management experts from our partner Enix. Together, we offer French and European companies a premium, tailored approach to managed Kubernetes and cloud native solutions — and an alternative to cloud providers’ managed services. Enix is also well-known for providing hands-on technical training and serving as an evangelist for the Kubernetes DevSecOps ecosystem.
