Mirantis has been positioned as a Challenger in the 2026 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Container Management.

We believe the placement reflects where we have put our engineering effort. Enterprises want infrastructure they can run on their own terms, on the hardware and in the clouds they choose, without a vendor sitting in the control path.

Managing infrastructure that does not sit in one place

Enterprise estates are mixed by default. Bare metal, virtualized environments, public cloud, and edge locations each arrive with their own tooling, and managing them separately is where the operational cost accumulates.

Mirantis builds toward a single management plane across all of it, on the open-source k0rdent orchestration framework. That plane manages everything from lightweight k0s clusters at the far edge to large-scale Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (MKE) deployments in the datacenter, providing GitOps workflows and consistent policy enforcement across the entire fleet.

AI workloads run on the same infrastructure as everything else

GPU capacity is infrastructure. Treating it as a separate estate with its own control plane and operational model forces organizations to run two platforms and staff both.

Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (MKE) runs GPU workloads through the NVIDIA GPU Operator, on configurations validated with NVIDIA and published in NVIDIA's partner documentation. k0s is Certified Kubernetes AI Conformant, as are clusters deployed by k0rdent.

The same platform that manages edge workloads manages GPU-backed clusters running training and inference. VMs and containers sit on one Kubernetes fabric, so capacity does not have to be divided between operating models to serve both.

Regulated and sovereign environments

Infrastructure decisions in telecommunications, financial services, and the public sector are increasingly made against regulatory requirements rather than cost alone. DORA has applied to EU financial entities since January 2025. NIS2 obligations arrive through each member state's own transposition rather than uniformly, and most member states now have one in force.

Two things follow for platform teams under those regimes. The control plane cannot depend on a vendor-managed SaaS, because a dependency you do not operate is a dependency you cannot attest to. And the APIs cannot be proprietary, because proprietary APIs turn migration into a rewrite.
