Adrian Ionel is the CEO of Mirantis, and its co-founder as an OpenStack company. He joined in 2009 and initiated the company’s investment in OpenStack in 2010. Since then the company grew from five to over one hundred customers, becoming the OpenStack market leader and one of the most respected brands in cloud infrastructure. Adrian leads Mirantis’ vision and strategy, and the company’s overall development rooted in a culture of customer intimacy, engineering excellence and risk taking as its foundation for long-term prosperity.Prior to Mirantis Adrian was CEO, Chairman and co-founder of eOnline, (now part of Xerox), VP and General Manager EMEA at Qualys (NASDAQ: QLYS) and Venture Partner at Trident Capital. He earned a MSEE degree from the University of Erlagen-Nuernberg and spent his early years in R&D and product management. A Romanian by birth Adrian lived in the UK, Germany and Japan and settled in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1995. Outside work he loves trail runs, power yoga, spending time with family and the occasional mountain biking ride.
Co-Founder and President
Alex Freedland is Mirantis co-founder and original CEO. Most recently, in the role of CFO, Alex guided the company through a number of equity and debt financing rounds. Currently, Alex oversees Mirantis OpenStack Community contribution strategy.
A serial Entrepreneur, Alex co-founded RSI Group, Inc., one of the world’s principal providers of Receivables Management Software, which sold to London Bridge Software PLC (now part of Fair Isaac Corporation–NYSE: FICO) at 800% return to the investors.
Alex’s previous experience includes a wide range of technical and management positions with Tektronix, IBM, ADP, Netscape, and KLA-Tencor.
He holds a master’s degree in computer engineering from Santa Clara University in California.
Co-Founder and CMO
Boris is responsible for helping define Mirantis’ strategic vision and executing on it in the marketplace across the OpenStack ecosystem and beyond. Boris’s influence was instrumental in Mirantis’ current focus on OpenStack. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the OpenStack Foundation.
During the last 15 years, Boris held several executive positions with the companies he helped establish. He was a founder and CEO of Selectosa Systems—an IT consulting company that was subsequently acquired in 2006—and a co-founder and angel investor at AGroup—now a venture backed enterprise software company headquartered in Europe.
Boris holds a BSc in Information Systems from Santa Clara University. He likes technical scuba diving, motorcycles, and RC helicopters.
Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales
Marque is a distinguished executive that brings more than 20 years of exceptional results in building and leading enterprise software sales teams. Joining Mirantis in March of 2015, his experience, energy and innovative sales system play an instrumental role in navigating Mirantis’ explosive growth in helping our customers win in the software economy.
Teegardin got his start in software sales at PTC where over an eight-year career he rose to the level of Sr. VP, leading PTC’s most strategic accounts across North America. During this time, he contributed significantly to PTC’s massive growth from $250M to $1B in revenue. After PTC, Teegardin spent six years at NICE Systems, the Israeli-based market leading solution provider in the Contact Center industry. During this time, he created the company’s first Major account program, rebuilt its Global accounts business and led much of the Americas region that grew to upwards of $350M.
Prior to joining Mirantis, Teegardin led a re-building effort at StoredIQ, an Austin Texas based Big Data Governance company. He overhauled the go to market approach, doubled sales in the first year and caught the eye of IBM, resulting in their acquisition of StoredIQ in early 2013. The post-acquisition revenue growth from the Teegardin-led StoredIQ team was so significant, it remains as one of the most successful acquisitions in IBM history.
Marque holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing/Psychology from Hillsdale College.
Vice President, OpenStack Services
Rikard is responsible for OpenStack services at Mirantis. He’s been an entrepreneur and technology executive for over 20 years, working with service providers, telecommunications companies, and enterprises to deliver carrier-grade solutions for mission critical applications.
Rikard led the cloud solutions delivery team at Citrix for the Americas while also supporting the integration of Cloud.com into the Citrix umbrella of solutions. Before that, Rikard was co-founder of Ellipsus, the first generation of mobile app stores in the US. Ellipsus was acquired by Openwave Systems in 2002. He continued to lead two product groups at Openwave Systems, comprising over 10% of the corporate revenue.
Rikard also is a pilot, avid windsurfer, surfer, snowboarder, and family man.
Vice President, Product Management
Ronen Kofman is VP of Product Management at Mirantis responsible for product strategy focusing on creating a pure play, enterprise grade solution for customers. Ronen works closely with industry leading technology companies to help make OpenStack the solution of choice for private and public clouds.
Prior to Mirantis Ronen was Director of Product Development for Oracle OpenStack. Ronen initiated, built and led Oracle’s OpenStack efforts in the Linux space building the first OpenStack product from Oracle. Before OpenStack Ronen led product management for Oracle’s next generation server virtualization platform from inception to large scale adoption. Earlier in his career Ronen held various product and engineering management positions at Vmware and Intel focusing on virtualization and management software.
Ronen holds an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management and a Bachelor’s degree in computer and software engineering (cum laude) from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology.
Vice President, Upstream & Community Engineering
Ilya runs the Mirantis OpenStack Platform Product engineering group focused on empowering OpenStack with a richer feature set around application-facing functions. Ilya’s group drives the development of OpenStack Savanna and Murano projects and also actively participates in the development of OpenStack projects such as Heat, Ceilometer, and Trove.
Previously, Ilya ran Mirantis Cloud Services, broadening the expertise in cloud enablement for applications, DevOps automation, and creation of data-intensive services utilizing modern technology stack components such as Hadoop, Cassandra, Storm, and Lucene/Solr. Before that, Ilya headed Mirantis Global Engineering. He has also led the establishment of product development centers for world-leading technology innovators such as Cisco and Agilent.
Ilya holds a MSc in Physics with honors from Saratov State University, Russia. He spends time away from work mountain biking, hiking, and cross-country-skiing when the weather in California resembles his native Russia.
Vice President, Mirantis OpenStack Engineering
Roman runs Mirantis’ OpenStack development arm, focused on delivering solutions in the OpenStack ecosystem, as well as creating and committing code for leading edge projects and features spanning the range of cloud infrastructure technologies.
At Mirantis, Roman has moved from software engineer to become a team lead, subsequently spearheading Mirantis’ presence at Cisco and growing it to 40+ engineers. He most recently served as the Director of the Big Data Competence Center. In 2006, Roman won the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest—the most prestigious programming contest in the world.
In his free time, Roman enjoys DJing and Go Kart racing.
Vice President, Finance
Lisa brings more than two decades of finance and accounting experience. Prior to Mirantis, Lisa was a Corporate Controller at Vudu, Inc., a Silicon Valley start-up, where she played a central role in driving the company’s growth and a successful sale to Wal-Mart.
Lisa has held numerous finance and accounting roles at BEA Systems, 3Com, and PriceWaterhouse. She is a CPA and holds a Master of Accountancy from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
