June 14, 2012

By David M. Fishman

Mirantis offers a two-day bootcamp, plus an afternoon workshop at GigaOm Structure that shows how to get started with OpenStack Cloud. The company will share its expertise in OpenStack in sessions designed to help companies jumpstart OpenStack deployments.

Mountain View, Calif., (PRWEB) June 14, 2012 —
Mirantis, a leader in engineering services for OpenStack™ Cloud, will deliver two training sessions on OpenStack Cloud.

The two-day Bootcamp for OpenStack will be June 14-15 at Nexenta’s offices in Santa Clara, CA. It is an intensive course providing hands-on technical training for OpenStack Compute. The program is designed for system administrators and IT professionals looking to get started on an OpenStack Cloud deployment. It is open to the public, with advance registration. (This same Bootcamp will also beoffered in Washington, DC, July 12-13.)

The following week, on June 20, Mirantis will conduct a workshop on Vendor Independent OpenStack Cloud: Install and Demo at the GigaOm Structure Conference in San Francisco for conference attendees. Mirantis speakers will be Boris Renski, co-founder and executive vice president, and Kirill Ishanov, director of OpenStack Cloud Services.

The Bootcamps and the workshop at Structure will help expand the pool of skilled engineering talent and expertise that a growing number of enterprises require in order to create, deploy, and maintain OpenStack solutions. Mirantis is also planning to soon offer private on-site training programs in OpenStack for individual companies that want to train a group of employees at one time.

OpenStack is the project that has evolved to become one of the most popular open source platforms for building private and public clouds. Today, there are more than 150 technology leaders, including Cisco, Dell, HP, IBM, NetApp, Rackspace, and Yahoo!, involved in OpenStack. In April, the newly-formed OpenStack Foundation was introduced as an independent and long-term home for OpenStack, with Mirantis as a founding member.

Mirantis is the largest and most experienced provider of engineering services for OpenStack. The company has been an active member of the OpenStack community since its inception and today employs more than 50 OpenStack consultants. The company has successfully delivered dozens of OpenStack implementation projects for organizations like Internap, Cisco, Dell, Nexenta, and others.

“Our last training session was filled nearly as soon as registration opened, so we know there is a great demand for technical expertise and skills in OpenStack,” noted Renski. “With 50+ Mirantis engineers solely devoted to OpenStack projects for clients, we can help others gain the knowledge they need to be successful with OpenStack.”

Mirantis is also one of the key organizers of the Bay Area’s OpenStack user group, hosting the quarterly community events in Silicon Valley.

In addition, the company has provided important contributions to the Dell-developed Crowbar software framework. Recently, Mirantis and Dell announced a partnership to help customers design, build, and manage robust infrastructure clouds using the OpenStack open source platform.
