Certifies EMC VNX, ScaleIO and XtremIO with Mirantis OpenStack

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – May 6, 2015 – Mirantis, the pure-play OpenStack company, collaborating with EMC Corporation, the leader and innovator in cloud computing, flash and storage infrastructure solutions, has certified EMC® VNX®, EMC XtremIO™, and EMC ScaleIO® storage platforms with Mirantis OpenStack 6.0. The solution is the first to enable cloud architects, cloud operators and IT administrators build enterprise-class, scalable, and multi-tenant OpenStack clouds using EMC storage solutions.

As part of the certification, EMC and Mirantis have delivered a reference architecture – the first to publish under EMC’s OpenStack Reference Architecture Program – which demonstrates how to use EMC storage systems, Mirantis OpenStack, and Cinder block storage drivers together in an OpenStack environment.

“Every enterprise today is competing in a new software economy, putting pressure on IT to innovate at all levels,” said Boris Renski, Mirantis co-founder and CMO. “Many of our customers want to transition their architecture into a cloud model, but they cannot simply rip-and-replace their existing infrastructure. Certifying EMC on Mirantis OpenStack ensures that they will be able to leverage their existing EMC storage investments and new scale-out storage products with Mirantis OpenStack, easing their transition into next-generation cloud platforms.”

“Many EMC customers, including large enterprises with mission-critical apps, are asking to use EMC storage solutions with OpenStack to build a scalable private cloud,” said Peter Cutts, Vice President, Cloud Technology Solutions, EMC Corporation “With Mirantis, they leverage OpenStack’s flexibility, modularity and cost efficiencies with EMC’s storage solutions. The result is a powerful, enterprise-ready cloud storage solution.”

In addition to the reference architecture, Mirantis will sponsor Open@EMC, the first ever DevOps-focused track at EMC World. Mirantis co-founder Alex Freedland will be featured in EMC’s Best Practices Sharing For Building OpenStack Clouds panel on Wednesday, May 6, at 1:30 p.m. PT. Mirantis will also host “Designing Your Cloud Storage with Security and Performance in Mind,” a session demonstrating how to automate an OpenStack Cinder storage deployment with security and performance in mind.
